I have generally kept out of this discussion, since I'm too far away to have any good insights. But clearly the actions of the CHS are, how can I say this politely...not in the public interest.
But from my view point there seems to be a lot of justified venom directed in the wrong direction. Tragically the Ashbys and their employees have been screwed, but that's water under the bridge. People are waiting for CHS's misadventure to fail so they can say we told you so. I doubt that it will fail. Ridership will be dismal, steam may or may not be around, historic values are being lost, and so on. But excuses will be made and CHS will lumber on. Railstar might even bail them out. Hopefully the railroad itself will survive as a monument to the Ashbys and the good people who worked there. And no good is served by Railstar becoming another victim, although hopefully they walked into this mess with their eyes open.
I like the old saw, "don't get mad get even". Somewhere somehow CHS must be accountable to somebody. How do you hit the CHS were it hurts.
