again, thanks for another informative response. his post and the ones below it fill in alot of gaps on how and why the Uintah engines were treated when they got to the SVRR. Found it interesting that the #51 was in need of so much work as the uintah usually prided itself on great maintenance, but then again, after 1935, the "writting was on the wall" and I doubt that management could justify to much maintenance costs to any of the Uintah's locomotives, to the bean counters. Thanks again.
