Russ,
According to the 1522 fella's, it's been returned to the Museum from whence it came. They couldn't seem to overcome the incessant problems that they had with running it and placed it back in the National Museum of Transport in Kirkwod.
It was impressive when it ran. I remember in 1990 when we double headed with it from St. Louis to Kirkwood. I was and still am with UP.
As far as UP's atitude towards Steam goes.... Who else is still running a steam locomotive, original owner, that has never been retired? Who else is big enough to afford operating one helluva large articulated? If you don't like UP steam then I suggest that you go out and support the BNSF, CSX or NS steam programs.
Back to Narrow gauge...
