I agree 100%. If I have to be couped-up on some train, rather than photographing it, at least I should be able to move around. From our video with the Verde Canyon, its one I would enjoy immensely, even though its not steam.
Another one I really enjoyed, and forgot to mention was the Alberta Prairie Railroad in Stettler, Alberta, CANADA. I shot some footage there in 1999. The railroad gave me a comp ticket to ride, so my daughter went along. There was tons of entertainment. Of course they had a bar car as well!!! In the bar car was a gal singing, and further back were a couple in old garb doing show tunes, which mesmorized my daughter who loves that stuff.
Later we stopped and there was a hokey train robbery where thieves on real horse rode up and down, and some boarded the train, and folks money was sent to a worthy charitable cause. Then there was a shootout and the guy from the train won of course.
Once they got to Big Valley, all the folks headed to the community center for a buffet lunch.
This is where we left and headed onward on out trip. But I was left with the sense that the ride had a lot to offer for the general rider types. Oh, and yes we did have a steam engine, ex Mississippian #77, now #41. I got to ride the cab a little from the hold-up to Big Valley.
