I understand how you feel. I really DO! Yes, it seems as if all this has degenerated to nothing more than a bitch session (and maybe it has!) It is not my intention to merely "live in the past" while doing nothing but complain about the current operators but to maintain scrutiny over this bunch of "historical society" mavens that have brought this upon themselves!
As has been said, there is no going back to "the good ol' days" but the circumstances necessary for a continuation of the Georgetown Loop as a viable tourist steam railroad are not in place! I'm concerned about safety, about unnecessarily running historical equipment into the ground and about the consequences of these and any one of a myriad of other "disasters" waitng to happen to the unprepared!
This is a CYA desperation operation for the CHS. Corners WILL be cut! Mark these words and this date because I WILL bring it up when it happens whether it is through ignorance, incompetence, skullduggery or a combination thereof!
Okay, enough with the dramatics. If these "persons" want to succeed with their ill-considered venture then they need all the help they can get! If I can point out a potential pitfall early enough for it to be handled without having to resort to "drastic" measures in order to correct a problem then I consider what I am doing to be in the best interests of the Georgetown Loop. It is up to the CHS to either take or ignore that advice. At this point it would seem to be the only responsible thing for me to do!
