Randy Hees had a great idea that he shared on my spng list:
...museums typically develop a restoration plan prior
to starting work. Much of the proposal is based on historic research.
What information can we develop on the tank and its history. Were
there other tanks on this site? When was it modified, what details do
we have of the modifications. What drawings, photos or other
resources exist?
If the locals think it would help, we can help with development of a
restoration report, and once things have calmed down, and possibly the
snow has melted on Tioga Pass, those of us who have some level of
museum experience and restoration skills could meet at Laws, to
evaluate parts, and eventually restoration.
Also, once the dust has settled, and a restoration plan and budget is
in place we can help raise money.

If any of you have more info or photos to share, every little bit can help. My list is at:
[groups.yashoo.com]-
Feel free to join and to put files and photos there. Jim is on the list and so is Randy, so that may be the best place to coordinate our assistance with the tank restoration.
Thanks to all of you for whatever you can provide.
