NG NOTES,
A TALE OF RABBITS and ROARING CAMP.
I do not recall the year that RC got it's brand
new FAIRMONT MOTOR CAR from the factory with
it's Omaha orange paint job,head lights,horn etc.
....but I would bet good money this was the first
(NG) motor car built in a lot of years by the
FAIRMONT CO. Clark named it the JACKRABBIT
and started (off time) passenger service to Bear
Mt. The motor was also on call for the SPCo.
section gang and B&B guys. We used the car for
R/W. fire petole after the last run of the day.
I would pick up one or two U.S.F.S. WATER CANS
and run over the hole railroad looking for smoke
in the trees. It was always nice in the summer
late afternoons to drift down the HILL and over
Spring Canyon Loop and I was being payed to do
this !!
As a foot note, some time in the 1970's some
one over at the Davenport Cement Plant found a
(NG) velocipede (wood) It had 50 years of
cement dust on the poor thing .....but we cleaned her up foundlettering for the PACIFIC
COAST RY. Co. Last time I saw old car it in
back of the RC engine house.
