Mr. PRSL, I have noticed in this and your past posts regarding FRA authority over our NG lines, that you seem to come at it with a notion that FRA involvement is undesirable. I assume this is from dealings you have had in your career that put you at odds with the Federal boys. I think the information you post as to the applicabilty of FRA regs. to NG is interesting and informative. Personally however, based on the relations SVRy has had with FRA, I would think any small operator should welcome them on site. First and foremost they want to assure we are operating in a safe manner. Apart from the record keeping requirements that might seem a little time consuming ( I admit I am not responsible to do this paper work) it seems to me that if an operator's equipment or track is so suspect that they are afraid of FRA, then that might be a train I wouldn't want to ride. As far as the seemingly onerous record keeping, it is the one way they have to monitor if we are following our own rules as well as theirs.
