The usable tractive effort at the rear coupler needs to be calculated. Even though the 12 has narly the tractive effort as the 9 it also weighs more and those extra pounds will have to be dragged up the hill too. The 12 has more overall weight but less on its drivers. The engine and tender resistance would have to be calculated and compared between the two. Purhapes it wouldn't make a big difference but less tractive effort and more weight would effect things. 6 cars may be optimistic for the 12, but it would sound cool trying. Am I correct on this?
