One of our favorite places to stop with Eureka during Railfest happens to be at Tefft. We usually do a couple of runbys at the bridge for the passengers, and several times, when time permitted, we often hiked over to the old site. Usually, we will spot the train on the wye at Cascade and hike from there. Of course, everything is governed by the schedule.
We have often tried to do things a little different than the regular trains. Besides the runbys, (which we call drive by shootings,) we try to give talks about the history of not only the Eureka and the E&P, but also some of the areas along the D&S line. These have included Teft, Tacoma and the powerplant, Rockwood, Needleton, the D&RG in general and assorted other places along the tracks, wood cutting expeditions and unusual things like that. I think the passengers really enjoy it. I know we enjoy sharing it whenever we can.
