It's sort of hard to put a tilde over the first 'n', but Earl's spelling is correct. Reference: Canon City, CO
From the dictionary: canyon, cañon (n.)
The current English spelling of this Southwestern narrow river valley between high cliffs is canyon, but older writings and placenames often preserve the Spanish spelling with the tilde over the n. Either way, it is pronounced KAN-yuhn.
