Having ridden the train between Whitehorse and Skagway in the late '50s and early '60s both, I know for a fact that I would simply drive to Whitehorse, go to Skagway and back, and continue on in my rig. I friend and myself drove red jeep station wagons from Toledo, Ohio, in 1958 and rode the train both ways before continuing on to Anchorage. Had a great time.
