Dick, Thanks for the invite. I'd love to go out there and work as a volunteer for awhile. It has been several years since I was there so I
have missed a lot.
You posted a question about Mears Junction. I have
been all over that territory and have driven over the old Marshall Pass on the old grade. Don't know if you can still do that, but then it was a good drive with the only rough road being where you had to leave the old grade and take a new road up on the side of the hill as you neared
Sargents Station due to the old grade being on fenced private property. You could still see the
old grade and RR buildings, tho. I wouldn't recommend this route for an RV.
Going south from Mears Jct. over Poncha Pass, the old ROW is visable practically all the way to the
junction east of Alamosa. This is all good road and shouldn't be a problem for your RV.
