Great Stuff, Doug.
Nothing like putting the fate of Denver Union Depot in the hands of the Developer of the Tabor Center, who also owns OmniTrax (aka Great Western Railway), Pat Broe.
Trillium is a new one, but it seems to me that it is a rename of an old line Colorado Company.
It figures, though, a depot that was built by the railroads, Burned, was rebuilt, was enlarged and became the centerpiece of downtown at the end of 16th Street. I suppose that it will go just like the rest of downtown Denver, especially lower downtown, demolished "For the public Good". Just like the Daniel & Fisher's store, the Tabor Block, The Golden Rule Store, Delmonico's of the West, the Windsor Hotel, the Denver Theatre, the Ghost Block, and many, many others.
it doesn't matter that the building CAN be renovated and that the wings would make wonderful self contained shops, and the DART busses could make a "Shoppers Loop" there, and that RTD Light Rail and Bus, Greyhound, Amtrak and a DIA rail connection could all use the building....
Let's tear it down, Just like Pennsylvania Station in New York City. Then, Just like NYC, let's try to rebuild it with Federal money. What a short sighted bunch of people live down there, but then again, what are they losing?
It's not a Texas or California Landmark so what would the majority of Denver's population care... since that's where they all seem to be from.
