The group in East Haven, Conn. actually acted like the group saving the C&TS but in the late 1940's. The interurban running east from New Haven was being abandoned, a group bought the two or three odd miles that was on private ROW in the salt marshes (between street running), the interurban pushed equipment onto the former mainline and departed (I seem to recall the rail was pulled up, but it might just have been paved over).
The line was double track but in the 1950's (as I recall), one track was pulled up and sold to pay off debts. A very interesting place to visit.
It was interesting to see an electric snow plow there.
