Railroad Magazine years ago had a Gilbert Lathrop article entitled "Before The Engines Were Pooled" which dealt with the engineers out of Gunnison, Colorado. Sure wish Carstens would reprint some of these articles in Railfan once in a while.
While were talking about assignments, were the cabooses out of Alamosa more or less assigned to conductors in the later years?
