Depending on traffic, you should be able to make Golden Spike National Monument in about an hour from Ogden's Union Station. If the National Monument doesn't show up on your map, or you're not certain where it is, then look at the north end of the Salt Lake for a small town symbol named "Thiokol" (sp?) (as in Morton-Thiokol).
You may be a bit early in the year to see the locomotives fired up, but there's an interesting visitor center and a driving tour.
