The Class No. is 10-26D 332
the first # 10 is the number of wheels counting all pilot and driving wheels.
the 26 is the cylinder size, which for #12 16x22
the letter D indicates the # of driving wheels
A= ?
B= 2 driving wheels
C= 4 driving wheels
D= 6 driving wheels
E= 8 driving wheels
F= 10 driving wheels
G= 12 driving wheels
#12 was the 332nd 10-26D engine built
the fraction #'s like in #70's class no. indicate
possition of trailing and lead wheels
1/4 = a single axle lead and trailing truck
1/3 = " " " trailing truck
1/2 = " " " lead truck (i.e. 2-6-0)
#190 at tweetsie is designated as a S-160 138
im told the S was used to designate steam during the years BLW built both.
I think if #190 was built in the old days she would be something like a 12-26E1/4.
