CHS had the entire train loaded with dignitaries and VIPs, and was far less dramatic as the 40 broke the ribbon at 5 mph under a slow order about two hours after the train left the new lower terminal.
It was quite an embarrasement for CHS, to say the least.
One of the news stations in Denver, I think it was Channel 9, interviewed one of the "grimy railroad workers" pictured in video footage of the efforts to rerail the stock car. The grimy RR worker was Bill Farquhar, but the name displayed under his grizzled image was "Mike Trent", much to the amusement of my kids and a few others. Thats why I made the reference to Bill's improved appearance last weekend.
I should mention that anyone who thought that image on TV was me might have thought I'd undergone a makeover myself....
