NO dual-gauge in the Royal Gorge

September 30, 2004 09:40AM
Wooly's response regarding dual gauging the Royal Gorge line is right on. I personaly heard Lindsey Ashby say that publicy at the Friends annual meeting in Chama in June. He went on to say that the height of the SG rail (140#?) is just too tall to not cause damage to NG rolling stock like axles, brake beams, etc. should they have a derailment.
So for all of you NG-SG foamers yearning for dual gauge operations you are just going to have to settle for the dual-gauge track at the CRRM.
