<(1) In Silver Plume, is the "coach restoration" building served by live rail? (Seemed to be 'land locked' with no connection to GLRR....or are the rails buried?)>
The Colorado Historical Society's "Silver Plume Historic Rolling Stock Shelter" (aka the "Crystal Palace", "Parking lot eradicator", "the Tomb") is NOT connected to live rail. Unfortunatly (but not surprisingly) the CHS refused assistance from the GLRR in planning and designing this building. The GLRR offered to help out, and was flat told "we don't need nor want your help". So, that being said, the building sits in such a location that a lead could be built out a ways to connect with the live rail of the GLRR, but the curvature would be too tight to allow the long passenger cars stored inside to negociate the curve. The building is very much "land locked"!
One other thing too...the CHS's caboose D&RGW #0586, which was planned to be put inside this building, will never go inside. The building itself is plenty tall to allow the caboose inside, but the doors aren't. The doors are curved, and do not allow the cupula of the caboose to fit through, unless you were to shave about 6 inches off of the cupula. Another idiotic mistake by the CHS...one of many in regards to the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park (probably should make sure and say that the name "GLHM&RRP" is owned by the CHS, so no copyright violations!)
