New /Young Museum Members

Rick brought up a point in another thread about the treatment of new members in R/R Museums. I can understand about people who come out and you spend many hours in showing them around and they only last for a day or two. The problem, it seems to me is that there is a "Good Ol Boys Club" that started the museum, or have been there FOREVER and they don't want to include any new faces. New members need to have a tough hide to deal with some of the old timers who are "SOCIALLY CHALLENGED" to put it mildly. They seem to forget how many bonehead things they did when they were new to the hobby. Some of them don't seem to understand that most people who are any good won't put up with that kind of crap,(and they shouldn't have to). When you look around at most of the R/R Museums that I have visited you will see mainly older people running the show. What will happen in 10 or 20 years when they are gone? If these organizations are to survive they will have to appeal to, and accept the younger members who will be carrying on the work when they are gone. Getting off my soapbox now. Regards, John
