It must have been in Quebec. I understand that Ontario and the Maritimes are primarily English speaking, with the required dual language signs.

PS 40+ years ago, I took the bus across Newfoundland. One of the passengers was speaking a very old form of English -- Newfoundland was first being settled by the Brits in the 1500s.
