We stayed just up the beach for a conference my wife was attending the last week of February. The resort had a considerable number of resident guests left homeless from the fires.

I ended up not taking many picture of the railroad or the damage, partly because it was rather depressing, and partly because a couple times I had the camera I was getting the stick eye for locals in the area.

I did talk to a couple city employees who laid out the restricted access and said that there was no way to see the depot area as a tourist. I did drive by the shops area and saw the same scenes the Todd posted. It looks like the hillside above the shop is being subdivided so the inevitable push to remove them is getting closer.
