Here is an interesting 'bummer':

In the bummer above, it seems to me that the bummer is self-loading. When the team moves forward, the end of the tongue is pulled down, lifting the log. Likely the log swivels as forward movement continues til the log is parallel to the direction of travel, withe the leading end of the log over the bummer..
