Weren't there both surveys and consideration by the D&RG to access Silverton from the North by way of the Creede Branch which if had occurred, none of the narrow gauge trains we enjoy today in SW Colorado would likely exist because it would have tanked before the post war oil boom in Farmington and tourist trade could get started on the Silverton branch? I seem to recall an article in the Friends newsletter about that...
