Joe,
I've never seen that map but can understand your confusion. SRR extension to Silver Lake was 1893, then it was moved into the newly incorporated SNRR and extended to Eureka in 1895. There was never a SRR extension to Eureka.
Similarly, Silverton Railways incorporated in 1904 and then leased to the Silverton & Red Mountain in 1905. I have seen newspaper articles referring to the SRR as the Silverton & Red Mountain earlier than this though, so maybe there was some confusion about the name that predated the actual legal entity in 1905. People may have just referred to the SRR as the Silverton & Red Mountain before that was a real thing.
I have seen a map of the proposed extension from Animas Forks to Mineral Point, but not the others you describe. Some of those would have been pretty fantastic and unrealistic given the topography, as you point out.
I'm not aware of the map you're referencing with the portraits of Gibbs & Mears either but would love to see that too. Sorry I can't be of much help but it's an interesting question!
