When the Canadian Pacific branch was built between Guelph and Goderich, Ontario, narrow gauge Porters were used to construct two of the line’s major bridges. Work began long before rails reached these sites, and the locos were leap-frogged ahead using wagons. I couldn’t find a photo of them being transported, but in the background we can see that one of them has been offloaded and is being poled by hand onto the temporary rails. Yet there isn’t a train I wouldn’t take, No matter where it’s going.”
