I remember seeing the Cimmaron display just after the locomotive was moved from Montrose. It was and still is an impressive display. You come down the access road to the power plant and here is the 278 with it's boxcar and caboose consist sitting on a section of truss bridge. This display is almost in the middle of nowhere, but is a great example of the narrow gauge to Utah. The addition of the Forest Service car display just up the canyon has turned the area into a museum display. Access to the display is not that difficult for repair personnel. Lumber can be pre-cut and installed on the cab. Looks like most of the cab can be saved. Repair it and leave it alone. It still is an outstanding exhibit and should still interest rail fans and tourists alike. Some say you should repair 278 and operate it. Well, start a fund raising drive and lay track from Cimmaron to Cerro summit. That would be impressive, but a pipe dream.
