There's already a summary of 1968 operations at [
ngdiscussion.net], Greg -
Which includes links to photos taken by Ernie
Robart (NO 's'), John West, Olaf Rasmussen and others. There were a lot more trains in 1967, and even more in 1966 and in 1965, and earlier than that the narrow gauge was close to a 24/7 operation, even in the winter. Ernie co-authored an excellent little book with Joe Hereford about twenty years ago —
Rio Grande Narrow Gauge – The Final Years, Alamosa to Chama, and for several years I've been pressuring their good friend and frequent train-chasing companion Olaf to do a sequel covering freight operations from Chama to Durango and Farmington.
