Carlos' photos of the petroglyphs reminded me of a Bureau of Ethnology report from the 1890s. John Wesley Powell, the great explorer, wrote "the best place for the public to view petrogyphs is from the coaches of the Denver and Rio Grande RR in Northern New Mexico".
