The sound was not resounding for a very sound reason, Youse Guys -
Per the profile of the C&TS on Ernie Robart's large map, the elevation at Osier (~ m.p. 318.5) is 9634' and the elevation at Los Pinos "Station" (~ m.p. 322.8) is also 9634'. In other words the track is essentially dead level for about 4½ miles, so the Johnson bar (small 'b', only one 'r') of the loco is probably set just a notch or two forward of center, and as a somewhat disap
pointing result there's not much chuffing to be heard even if Roger's mike were clipped to the stack
