A couple questions about the Guayaquil and Quito

September 28, 2022 07:10PM
Hello all, i've been lurking on the forums for awhile but figured it was finally time to make an account.

I have a big interest in Ecuador's Guayaquil & Quito, and have been doing large amounts of research into it that started when lockdown happened and has continued well beyond that.

The negative with the G&Q is tracking their history before the 1970s is a bit of a pain, although Martin Coombs's Railways Of The Far South research on Ecuador has helped fill in a few gaps.

My biggest current question concerns the main workshops at Duran. I see after the rebuild a couple years back everything is kind of congregated in to one area, however in older photos there's a workshop that is constructed of wood, along with what I assume to be a brick station. Was the shop and yard in Duran split in to two areas? With the station and this wooden workshop being at one and the newer building and yards in a different location?

I love this railroad but sometimes researching this stuff is quite the enigma.

Thank you, Liam H.
