I recalled they had talked about using diesel oil. The earlier comment might've thrown some of us off because diesel fuel is effectively synonymous with #2 oil. It's a lighter oil, not heavy oil like #5 or #6 bunker oil, but still oil. When Jerry said it would not burn oil I naturally interpreted that as including diesel oil.
Compressed air operation has a bad reputation, not always deserved, for causing a lot of machinery wear and tear and that's an interesting subject in its own right. It also offers significant advantage when brief or near-immediate operation is desired. I'm much more interested in the mechanical why's and the solutions to various issues than in criticizing anyone for choices that usually make sense when compared to the required service.
