On the C&TS, a red flag must be posted 300 feet in advance of work being done on the tracks. I would interpret that as 300 feet in advance of the derail. A red/yellow flag must be placed 750 feet in advance of the red flag. The engine must acknowledge the red/yellow flag with a "-0" whistle and have slowed to restricted speed before passing the flag. The red flag cannot be passed until the MOW supervisor gives the authority to pass the red flag.
