I have to agree with Ed about Russo's photo - beautiful.
Here are a few more views of opening day 315 and 463 double heading.
I think that the regular opening day in May provides the best opportunities for views of snowy mountains towering over the train. I would love to redo this view at a higher resolution (maybe in 2023?). Here the opening day train has left the tank car of water at Lava.
Continuing west, the train winds thru sagebrush and antelope country. It would be a coup to catch the train and an antelope herd in the same photo.
By the time the train reached Los Pinos, the weather had changed from blue skies to pouring rain. Not much fire danger here.
