Snow on the peaks doesn't hang around long after Memorial Day — especially on the sunny south sides of Blanca Peak and Crestone Needle. On June 23, 2012 there were only a few tiny patches of snow on their northeast sides when I rode the SL&RG up to Fir for one of their fabulous Beer Tasting parties

This is the curve that the train is rounding in the top photo of your first post. The top of the new culvert barely shows in front of the fill at the left, above.
