They came West as part of the 1915 purchase that the N-C-O made of F&CC locomotives and cars. There were no duplicate numbers, so the N-C-O did not renumber - only re-letter - the equipment.

N-C-O got coaches coaches 52, 55 and 56 and baggage-RPO cars 71 and 72. It bought locomotives 22 and 23; 22 went on to the SP without a change of number.
And a whole bunch of box cars and flatcars & gondolas.

Some of the box cars went to the Southern Pacific. Other baxcars went to the NCNG and the Pacific Coast; and some of these went to the Navy for service at Pearl Harbor.
