In my first post I showed West Side 10 crossing River Bridge back in October 1960. Two days ago at Fish Camp on the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad I was reunited with 10 almost 62 years later.
It was inside the YMSP shop getting major work done. Note the Pickering Lumber logo barely visible on the side of the oil bunker that was uncovered when the paint was stripped. Outside, the former WSL 15 was getting ready to handle the day's train full of school kids getting their first exposure to steam propulsion.
Several of us got the cooks tour by GM Scott McGhee and learned a lot about both the WSL and the YMSP. The YMSP is very respectful of its WSL heritage and there is a lot of history preserved. There is both equipment original to the WSL, and ineresting new and modified stuff. Perhaps the highlight is listening to the engine work up a 12 percent grade with a full train.
The YMSP is well worth a visit and I hope to get back for a more extended photography session.
