Re: Why 40% to Georgetown??!!

Yeah, you're probably right. The Ashby's are a class act. I'm just so frustrated that we seem to be the only ones that see this for what it is!!!
My father lives in Golden and is a live steam modeler (3 1/2" up to 7 1/2" gauge) and all around steam railroad enthusiast. The GLR was OUR railroad that we could come up and enjoy when we came out to visit him. He took me and my sister on the Loop the first year it opened (back when it only went down part way and we were told what they eventually hoped to accomplish) and we have been coming up and enjoying it during our summer vacations ever since (although I never thought to ask for a ride in the cab!)
You always heard stories about how the C&T was in need of funding or how something like a roundhouse fire could have spelled the end for the D&S but it didn't happen and I was comforted in the knowledge that at least the GLR was in safe hands and doing well so that was one less road I didn't have to worry about!
The possibility that some greedy bloodsucking leeches would sink this road in less than a year never even occurred to me! I suppose I'm kind of in a state of shock. I'm also extremely angry about the situation (I've gone WAY beyond "frustrated" the more I read about what the CHS is demanding!) and I want some accountability but nobody seems to care!!!
Well, this year I will be riding the GLR on two separate occasions. I will be bringing my family, my sister's family and my father and his wife and we will ride it on the weekend of July 17th. Then in August during the 20th Garden Railway Convention (Aug 12-15) I (and hopefully my father if his health will allow) will ride it one last time and I will say goodbye to the Georgetown Loop forever.
My one hope is that we don't loose the Ashby's and their wonderful operation from the state of Colorado. If that happens then this disaster will be complete.
