Hey H & T
Long time no hear. All settled in ABQ? It has got to be as hot there as it is here in LAS.
You have been reading my mind......In fact, I've been talking to the guys at VGT and they're all anxious to have an assembly party.
Speaking of airports, one of my buddies at VGT just finished restoring a 1929 Lincoln biplane. It is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I had a little hand in the project in making the landing gear for it. We didn't have anything at the airfield that was big enough to turn the axles or to bend them. So we all got together at my shop and turned them on my lathe. When it came time to bend them to the proper angle, we used Eureka's old original front tube sheed that had been removed during restoration, to anchor the gear in. It fit perfectly through one of the boiler tube holes and held the gear firmly in place during the shaping process.
So there you have it....and 1875 locomotive had a hand in restoring an airplane.....what would old Mathias Baldwin have thought of that? Next time the airport guys get to help assemble the combine.
Looking forward to seeing both of you in DGO.
Dan
