Sometimes those of us that work on locomotives/railroads will use (for lack of a better description) "foamer" terminology, depending on who we're talking to. That could explain what you heard on the platform. While I've never worked for the WP&YR, I certainly have talked with a lot of guys who worked up there and can vouch for John's comments regarding those units being called either "90's" or "101's", particularly when enginemen are talking amongst themselves.
