After picking up Jeff and dropping his car off for repairs we recommenced chasing the train and quickly found ourselves in the largest pack of train chasers I have ever seen on Cumbres Pass. By one estimate there were over 70 vehicles involved in the chase! I quickly decided it made the most sense to pick a few photo spots to avoid the insanity on the highway. We went to Cresco where I wanted to replicate a 1967 Olaf Rasmussen photo. There were about a dozen rail fans already there. Jeff joined the large group near the water tank, while I went down below the trestle to replicate my Then and Now shot. The Eureka/Glenbrook arrived shortly and made a stop to water the locomotives. Unfortunately, they missed the stop, and due to poor steaming of the Eureka (later traced to a defective blower pipe), both locomotives were unable to get the train started again. Attempts were made for about 45 minutes to get going all to no avail.
