It seems that breaking cylinder heads are a pretty common occurrence, I work for a company that used to purchase cast iron valve components from a foundry not far from our plant, the reason we don't any more is because it's cheaper to buy it from China or India than to buy it from the folks down the road, crazy I know. But when our company buys now we do it in bulk and besides they don't have our patterns anymore. Anyway I know the owner of the company pretty well. Would a blank cast flange work out well enough for what is needed? Or would it be better to actually pour a cast of the pattern. They have a machine shop at the site next to the foundry so if drawings were supplied of the finished product a finished part could be delivered.
Does Como have any machines, lathes or mills in the roundhouse or in a shop
Just some options to throw out to you. I also have a few friends who have retired from the company that I work for who have opened up shops of their own, who are better machinists than myself.
Still a Student,
Dave
