Unfortunately, I need to report that KMRy #4 will NOT be under steam this year.
Our shop crew was working very hard this week to get her already for what what is to be a promising season. However, yesterday afternoon during a test run, #4 broke one of her cylinder heads. It seems that our #4 has been taking lessons from the SPNG 18. A new cylinder head will need to be casted, machined and installed but it is unlikely that we will be able to accomplish this before the end of this season due to our limited funds. I will draft up and post a official statement later this weekend.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom up in Como this week. Today we are holding the groundbreaking ceremony to start the construction on the new water tank. We should have pictures posted shortly. So, while we will not operating steam this year, progress is still being made in Como. Thank you everyone for your support of the Como project.
