Here we go again, jump on me, yet again. haha.
We're talking about a machine not a rattlesnake here.
Although I can say that I have driven a narrow gauge locomotive
under trial testing and with a (real) Engineer(not a Enginedriver) at my side, from a standing start under full 1000 amp load, accelerated that light locomotive to reach120 kph in half the length of the Marton station platform, a distance google tells me was 155 metres. I guess a K-36 would be still be in a cloud of steam blowing out the cylinder cocks at that time.
Any comparison between UP 844 hurling down the Mainline at speed and a stationary train on the narrow gauge is preposterous, like comparing Apples with Snails. That person that got hit, obviously put it all on themselves.
I'm picking you didn't read this....

I guess that wasn't clear enough, what I said above? That's your Rules to boot. Here we had to sound a warning before moving the Loco and/or Train.
Mr SRK says IanLK was oblivious, if so how did he take that picture directly looking at the loco? and would not notice (see) it start to move, if he was still standing there? hmmm, I guess you're implying that Ian is a ..... I'll let you image the word descriptive here.
My take on it was someone with a little knowledge(and a lot of personage aka thesedays as "Karen"), most likely with the Friends rather than a member of the Staff in Uniform, decided to impress on IanLK the error of his ways. A message couched in today's mantra of Safety but completely eclipsed by a ludicrous scenario. One that not only portrays the reprimander as ineffective, but also throws shadow on the ability of the Enginedriver to follow the operating requirements in securing his locomotive/train when standing.
Hence my following post

The transgressor(i.e. IanLK) would probably be left wondering just how and why a Locomotive could possibly wander off all by itself therefore rendering the "safety message" increasingly moot.
This walking off idea, an utterly absurd or ridiculous notion obviously negates any right thinking in impressing upon such individuals that "awareness" of your(immediate) surroundings is paramount. All it does is show how much or in this case, how little the reprimander actually knows.
That's my gripe. With the Messenger, and the message delivered.

Yes, but you have to sound the whistle and ring ya bell.... before moving.
Let's see your take on this then......photo is not altered other than the Enginedrivers face obscured for obvious reasons.
