Many years ago (decades) while on one of several road trips that included paralleling the old Eureka & Palisades we were on Nevada State #278 going through the Pine Valley. We came around a turn and ahead of us was a real working cattle drive coming up the road toward us. Riders on horse back with their dogs keeping the cattle moving up the road right-of-way. I think I stopped the car partway on the shoulder and partway on the pavement.
Which makes me remember an evening meal in the Owl Cafe and Bar in Eureka on one of the trips. Across the room there was a guy eating alone, but his high boots and style of pants and shirt, he could have stepped out of a photo of an 1875 miner. Then a group of four men arrived with spurs on their boots, and bandannas around their necks, and trail dust. Our comment was they probably took care of their horses and then jumped into the pickup truck for the trip to town and supper.
