I guess I do not understand the petition thing either. The current operator stopped negotiating or gave up, so what does the Society have as 'their' option. Not much, so number 9 is being evaluated, and they might decide it is NOT worth restoring, or can be restored and have a limited use on the Loop. After they hear what it might cost and what application / use it might have, they may go back to the negotiation table. Let things play out, let them speak and give your opinion when it is well thought out and specific. Supporting Greska without knowing the specifics might not be the best thing either, despite US not wanting to see anyting change at the Loop. We only know what little we get from rumors, staff comments and news reports, while there might be a lot more to the story than we all know.
