The issue you see with the door are caused by the fact the frame was far from square, badly rotted at the ends, and sagging several inches. In addition the top of the car spread out by several inches beside the roof ribs were gone, and there was bad rot in the ends, so nothing held the walls in place.
The caboose now has a new, square frame, and the rotted structural pieces are being either replaced or repaired depending on overall condition. Most of the body is repairable, some new pieces must be made though as originals are simply to far gone. The top rails came off in pieces, the upright next to the door has lost half its structure. The roof ribs will be new, except the two that support the coupla, which are being repaired because there was enough good martial left.
The car has many signs of not being square the last time work was done, doors for example that are cut at an angle, nail boards that are cut longer at the top then the bottom. All this goes down to frame condition. With these issues corrected, no one should have to worry about the frame for longer then I will live, and I'm not that old.
