A Friday and a Saturday are probably better than a Thursday and a Monday for a 10 p.m. (estimated) return to the departure point. IIRC, the actual returns were closer to Midnight, at least in August and September, and the crew had barely eight hours off after the October
21 Great Event before the Toltec Rattler departed early the following morning

As to the painted-over herald in August, Larry Jenson's excellent
Hollywood's Railroads - Volume Three, Narrow Gauge Country shows that the movie 'Showdown' (starring Dean Martin & Rock Hudson) was released in 1973, and notes that
"Motion pictures are often filmed a year or so before release", so maybe Hollywood is yet again to blame for #483's faulty make-up. The herald shows clearly in photos of the Toltec Rattler on October 22 (see [
ngdiscussion.net], above) and in my fuzzy late-evening photos of the September dinner train
